Kolber was born in Pennsylvania she earned her master's degree at the University of Miami. Kolber began her career as a video producer at CBS Sports in New York City. She won the Sports Emmy in Miami during her tenure as a reporter at WTVJ-TV. In addition, she was a reporter at WPLG-TV Miami, and WPEC-TV West Palm Beach. In 1993, when ESPN2 was first introduced in the year 1993, she was one of its initial anchors. The station stayed with her until ESPN2 up to the point that Fox Sports hired her. She was back at ESPN as host in 1999.
